Safari Browser Shortcuts (Mac OS)

Shortcuts tested on Mac OS 10.6.5 with Safari 5.0.3 on MacBook Pro

   1. Manage Tabs and Windows

command+t Open new tab
command+shift+[ / command+shift] Jump to next / jump to previous tab
command+w Close current tab
command+z Re-open closed tab (undo command)
command+option+w Close all tabs except active tab
command+n Open New Safari Window
command+m Minimize current Window
command+h Hide all Safari Windows
command+shift+w Close Safari Window (current window, all tabs)
command+` / command+shift+` Jump to next / jump to previous Safari Windows
command+q Close Safari (all windows, all tabs)


   2. Address and Search Bar

command+l Jump to toolbar (address bar)
command+option+f Jump to find/ search box (top right corner)
tab / shift+tab Cycle between toolbar, search bar, and page elements

   3. Browse between Webpages

command+shift+h Jump to home page
command+[ / command+] Jump to previous page / jump to next page

   4. Browse within Webpages

arrow down / arrow up Scroll page down / scroll page up
option+arrow up /
option+arrow down
Scroll one page down / one page up (or use space / shift+space)
home / end Jump to beginning / jump to end of a page
(on MacBook Pro use fn+option+arrow right/arrow left)
command+ / command- Zoom in / zoom out
command+0 Zoom to 100%
tab / shift+tab Jump to next input field / jump to previous input field
option+tab / shift+option+tab Jump to next link / jump to previous link on page
command+f Find on page / find menu on top of page. Press escape to close
command+g Find next with find open
command+click on link Open link in new background tab
option+command+click Open link in new browser window
option+click on link Download link
ctrl+click Open Context Menu

   5. Show/Hide Features

command+shift+| (pipe) Show / Hide Toolbar (Address Bar)
command+alt+l Show / Hide Downloads
command+shift+b Show / Hide Bookmark bar
option+command+l Show / hide Downloads
command+/ Show / Hide Status bar
command+option+a Show / Hide Activity Window

6. Safari Features and Bookmarks
option+command+1 Show Top Sites
option+command+2 Show Collections (history, bookmarks, ...)
command+d Bookmark Page
command+shift+n Add new bookmark folder in bookmark window
command+1...9 Jump to bookmark #1, #2, … from Bookmark Bar

command+r Reload webpage. Press escape or ctrl+. to stop
command+o Open file
command+p Print current webpage
command+s Save webpage as / export
command+i Mail webpage contents
command+shift+i Mail link to webpage

command+, Open Safari preferences menu
option+command+u View webpage source (close with command+w)
ctrl+shift+l with text selected Search selected text with default search engine
Press and hold back or forward button Show list of backwards / forwards entries
Hold option while clicking on back button Open last page in new background tab
command+option+e Empty the cache
